Terms of Service

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use Skratch. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials secure.

Skratch helps people find study partners for professional exams and related goals based on preferences you set (such as exam focus and availability). Skratch is a technology platform. We do not guarantee matches, study outcomes, exam results, the conduct of other users, or the quality of any study session.

Meeting links (for example Google Meet or Zoom) are provided by users or third parties. We do not host those meetings and are not responsible for third-party meeting tools.

You may register with email/password or a supported social login (such as Google). You agree not to impersonate others, create accounts for deceptive purposes, or share your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to the Service or other users.

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, stalk, or discriminate against other users
• Post illegal, hateful, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise harmful content
• Share others’ personal information without permission
• Use the Service for spam, scams, phishing, or commercial solicitation unrelated to studying
• Attempt to scrape, reverse engineer, overload, or disrupt the Service
• Circumvent paywalls, access controls, or security features

Study Buddy and chat are for respectful, exam-focused collaboration. Report concerning behavior through in-app channels when available, or contact us using the details in these Terms.

Some features require a paid subscription. Pricing is shown on our pricing page and may change with notice for future billing periods. Payments are processed by Stripe (or another payment processor we designate). Their terms also apply to payment processing.

Unless required by law or stated otherwise at checkout, subscription fees are non-refundable for the current billing period. You can manage or cancel renewals through the billing portal when available. Cancellation typically stops future charges; it does not always entitle you to a prorated refund.

You retain ownership of content you submit (profile info, photos, messages, session details, etc.). You grant Skratch a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, display, and process that content as needed to operate and improve the Service.

You represent that you have the rights to the content you upload and that it does not violate law or these Terms.

The Service may integrate Google sign-in, Stripe billing, email delivery, meeting links, and other third-party tools. We are not responsible for those services’ availability, policies, or failures.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SKRATCH AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER USERS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO SKRATCH IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (OR $50 IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID).

You agree to defend and indemnify Skratch and its operators against claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except where additional consent is required by law.

You may stop using Skratch at any time. We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits) will survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Skratch operator is primarily established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise. Courts in that jurisdiction will have exclusive venue, except where prohibited.
